Getting their messages through was the message for my winter 2023 talks about war pigeons at libraries and historical societies around Maine. Sometimes pigeon fancier and friend, Jon Bernhard, was able to bring a sampling of his marvelous homing pigeons for attendees to meet. This is what Andy Ryer, Librarian at the Thomas Memorial Library in Cape Elizabeth, had to say:
I just wanted to say thank you to both you and Jon for such a wonderful event on Thursday night. It was an absolutely fabulous and fascinating presentation and I know I learned so much. We’ve been hearing such wonderful positive comments about the program from our patrons ever since. People were really moved, interested and inspired by your presentation and by getting to see and meet Jon’s beautiful birds up close.
Springtime will bring more talks and maybe a release by Jon. Here’s what’s on the docket so far:
May 23, I’ll be at the Richmond, ME library, 6:30 pm
June 1, I’ll speak at the Cedars in Portland, 10;30 am, WITH birds
